In 2024, GFR Fund is continuing our search for opportunities to support more pioneering startups, specifically those with a strong focus on emerging digitally-native communities. We’re passionate about identifying and supporting founders who understand the transformative power of community building in the digital age.

As part of our commitment to fostering community-centric innovation, we’re excited to introduce the GFR Fund GDC Office Hour—a unique opportunity for startups to connect with and receive personalized insights from our team members.

Community in focus

Whether they have a product with an existing community or are in the early stages of building one, we seek entrepreneurs who understand the significance of fostering dedicated communities. This approach enables us to connect with visionary leaders who not only create groundbreaking products but also cultivate thriving digital ecosystems around them.

Our outstanding portfolio companies have demonstrated the importance of community-building and how communities contribute to bigger growth. One of them is Omeda Studios, a game developer of cross-platform third-person online battle arena games. Even before its first game release, Omeda Studio had already built a strong community on Discord. By fostering an engaged community, the team not only amplified anticipation but also garnered invaluable feedback from players and streamers, shaping its product in real time.

Another community-strong company in our portfolio is RTFKT, which uses the latest in game engines, NFT, blockchain authentication, and augmented reality to create unique sneakers and digital artifacts. With a strong presence on Instagram from the start, RTFKT experienced significant social media interactions, setting the stage for its success. Its commitment to community engagement showcased the potential for startups to thrive through digital platforms.
